We had a huge win when Walgreens and CVS finally agreed to dispense mifepristone. But many CVS stores have not gotten certified yet. Albertsons and other giant grocers with pharmacies haven't either, and only 12 of nearly 2,000 independent pharmacies have gotten the needed certification.
The Golden State is leading the way in easing that burden by providing money to pay for certification so that pharmacies can get mifepristone to people who need it in their community. Thanks to this program, we can ensure that every single pharmacy in California offers mifepristone to its customers. But not enough pharmacies are taking advantage of these state funds.
