Tell President Obama: Nominate Janet Yellen to run the Federal Reserve Bank
The Federal Reserve Bank of the United States is one of the most influential forces in determining the health of the U.S. economy, and right now, President Obama is deciding who will run it.
There is one clear choice that rises above the rest, an economist that correctly foresaw the inflating housing bubble in 2005 and the coming financial crisis in 2007. Her name is Janet Yellen, and her credentials are impeccable. Currently, she serves as Vice Chair to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. More than 300 leading economists have endorsed her for the job. Unlike many supposed Wall Street "regulators," she truly believes the Fed needs to prioritize decreasing unemployment, not just cater to Wall Street profits.
What's the problem? It appears she -- like so many women before her -- may fall victim to a glass ceiling. Despite the fact that her credentials are superior to any other candidate, the President still hasn't committed to nominating Ms. Yellen.
Sign our petition and tell President Obama: Mr. President, if you genuinely believe that the most qualified candidate should be chosen as Federal Reserve Chairman, the choice is clear. Please nominate Janet Yellen.
