Tell Governor Brown to Protect Californians
While the national gun debate is being hammerlocked by the NRA, we have a chance here in California to enact gun laws that protect Californians -- showing the nation that it’s possible.
Currently, there are four gun safety bills on Governor Jerry Brown’s desk awaiting his signature, but Gov. Brown has pandered to NRA supporters and vetoed life-saving gun bills in the past, even after the Sandy Hook massacre in 2013. We must make our voices heard and demand that he sign every one of these bills.
- AB 785 (Jones-Sawyer): Prohibits people convicted of misdemeanor hate crimes from possessing or acquiring firearms for ten years after their conviction.
- SB 536 (Pan): Makes Gun Violence Restraining Order records available to researchers while protecting the privacy of the petitioner and subject matter.
- SB 464 (Hill): Requires firearm dealers to further protect their inventory when businesses are closed by securing doors and windows, and creating further safety enhancements on their safes.
- AB 7 (Gipson): Allows counties to prohibit the open carry of unloaded long guns in designated public unincorporated areas.
Sign the petition demanding that Governor Brown protect Californians:
“The following gun safety bills that are on Governor Brown's desk would greatly enhance public safety and help protect Californians from gun violence: SB 536, AB 7, SB 464, and AB 785. I believe these bills will be paramount to save lives and show the nation that gun safety laws work. I urge him to sign these bills into law."
