Tell Gov. Jerry Brown: Protect our food from oil wastewater
Drought-stricken farmers in California are using billions of gallons of recycled oil wastewater -- potentially filled with hundreds of toxic chemicals -- to grow our nation's food! While farmers assume the water they are buying is safe to use, the reality is that government officials are using decades-old monitoring standards to test its safety.
The standards are so dated they don’t even test for carcinogens or the chemicals being used in modern day oil production! And now two California water districts plan to EXPAND this dangerous practice throughout the state!
As one of the largest food producers in the WORLD, California has a responsibility to ensure consumers that the produce they buy and eat will not endanger their lives.
SIGN THE PETITION to tell California Governor Jerry Brown:
"Ensure that our food is safe to eat. Prohibit the use of oil wastewater for crop irrigation in California."
