Tell CA Legislature: Support emergency legislation to prevent next LA gas leak
The massive gas leak in LA's Porter Ranch neighborhood was the worst environmental disaster since the BP oil spill. It further exposed our state’s failed oversight and slow emergency response, the weak laws governing regulation of gas storage facilities that led to this disaster, and our over dependence on fossil fuels and methods of extreme oil extraction.
Now that the leak is permanently stopped, we must fight harder than ever to make sure that a disaster like this NEVER happens again.
It's up to us to demand our legislators pass emergency legislation RIGHT NOW before an even bigger gas leak happens in our backyard.
SIGN THE PETITION to tell the California State Legislature:
"In the wake of the massive gas leak in Porter Ranch, I urge you to pass emergency legislation that will improve California's emergency response, prevent future disasters, and reduce climate emissions and our dependence on fossil fuels -- such as Senate Bill 380 by Senator Fran Pavley. I also ask that you help ensure that all parties responsible for such disasters are held accountable."
