Tell Gov. Jerry Brown to declare Porter Ranch gas leak as state of emergency

Los Angeles County has already declared a state of emergency as SoCalGas scrambles to stop the ongoing gas leak at its Aliso Canyon Storage Facility near Porter Ranch. The City Attorney of Los Angeles even filed a lawsuit against SoCalGas for creating “unlivable” conditions. This gas leak is spiraling out of control! We need Governor Brown to show true leadership and use his executive authority to immediately declare a state of emergency and shut the gas leak down.

Every day Gov. Brown refuses to take action, 1,200 TONS OF METHANE GAS -- a greenhouse gas that is seventy times more potent than carbon dioxide -- spews out of a well RIGHT HERE in California, causing local residents to experience nosebleeds, migraines, and dizziness. What's worse is that SoCalGas still has no set deadline to fix the leak despite the fact that thousands of Porter Ranch residents were displaced and two schools were shut down.

SIGN THE PETITION to tell Governor Jerry Brown:

"I urge you to use your executive authority to immediately shut down the Porter Ranch gas leak and declare a state of emergency!"
