Tell Kaiser CEO: Stop putting patients’ lives in danger
For years, Kaiser Permanente -- California’s largest health insurer -- has put the lives of thousands of mental health patients at risk by not providing timely care -- forcing patients with serious mental illness to wait weeks and even months for urgent treatment. And now Kaiser's workers have had enough!
On Monday, January 12th, nearly 3,000 courageous mental health clinicians from Kaiser -- represented by the National Union of Healthcare Workers -- will launch a statewide strike to protest Kaiser’s chronic mental health care failures.
Kaiser has even admitted guilt by paying a near record-breaking fine of $4 million. But despite making over $3 BILLION in profits in 2014, Kaiser still refuses to staff its mental health departments with enough clinicians to handle the caseload.

"As an executive at Kaiser Permanente, you have the power to stop putting profits before patients and provide quality mental healthcare for your members who need timely treatment. Despite a $4 million fine, patients still suffer. I ask that you IMMEDIATELY present and execute a plan to reduce wait times for mental health patients seeking treatment -- such as NUHW's common-sense proposal for clinician–management committees to work together to determine each facility's staffing needs."
