Tell Sacramento: Pay Homecare Workers the Overtime they Deserve
In 2014, Sacramento leaders passed a budget allowing In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) homecare workers to receive overtime pay. This rule was set to begin January 1, 2015.
This law would help some of our most hardworking Californians -- most of whom are women, blacks, latinos, and workers without a four-year college degree -- make ends meet. In fact, right now in California, 80% of homecare workers are women and are earning, on average, just $10 an hour.
The state has since delayed the implementation of this critical law. A delay that is cruel and deeply harmful to struggling IHSS homecare workers and their families.
SIGN THE PETITION to tell Sacramento leaders:
Please, stand with IHSS homecare workers and grant them the overtime pay they were promised 2014. These are some of the hardest working Californians in some of the most challenging jobs around. They deserve every penny.
