Tell your CA Legislators: Help put a nurse and librarian in every California school!

California’s students deserve better. After years of budget cuts, most of our students have no access to medical care or counseling services during the school day and library hours at their schools have been cut back dramatically.

Despite being the ninth largest economy in the world, we rank 45th in the ratio of students to school nurses and we have the absolute worst ratio of any other state in the number of students per librarian.

There is a new initiative in Sacramento that could help change that. It’s called "Healthy Kids, Healthy Minds" (that would be implemented through Assembly Bill 1955) and it would begin a pilot program to put more nurses, librarians, and mental health practitioners in our schools. Research shows that these basic resources are essential to the learning, health and academic success of students.

SIGN THE PETITION and tell your California Assemblymember:
"Please support AB 1955 (Pan), the "Healthy Kids, Healthy Minds" initiative. This bill provides much needed expanded school-based health services and expanded school library hours for K-12 students across the state. Effective learning is dependent on direct access to health care and support for study, and it's time that California addressed this challenge head on."
