Gov. Brown: Restore Food Stamps for 320,000 Californians!
After the Tea Party forced billions in cuts to SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) a.k.a. "food stamps," a bipartisan group of governors from around the country are fighting back. They're both following the new SNAP funding rules AND making sure their states get the proper funding for vital food assistance. For some, it's the difference between life and death.
Governor Brown can make sure 186,000 California children don't go hungry. It will cost the state less than $20 million, but it will trigger $275 million in federal funding.
Join Courage and our partners at Daily Kos and ask Gov. Brown to join the governors of six other states and restore access to basic food assistance for 320,000 of the poorest Californians:
"Governor Brown, 320,000 of the poorest Californians -- including 186,000 children -- will go hungry if draconian cuts to SNAP funding are allowed to go forward. Please continue your historical support for food assistance and stop these cuts."
