Tell President Obama: Protect LGBT workers from discrimination NOW!
It is unconscionable that the first openly gay NFL player, Michael Sam, could be fired simply for his sexual orientation. When Americans can still be legally fired for being gay in 29 states and for being transgender in 33 states, we must take this opportunity to shine light on this legal discrimination in America and send President Obama a message he can't ignore.
President Obama has an opportunity to protect as many as 16 million federal workers from discrimination right now -- and he doesn’t need Speaker Boehner’s support to do it.
Since the Speaker refuses to hold a vote on ENDA (the Employment Non-Discrimination Act) -- which would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace -- we need to demand the President have the courage to move forward and do what's right for America.
President Obama declared 2014 “a year of action,” saying that he would use his executive power to step in if Congress was standing in the way of progress -- and we must hold him to it.
SIGN THE PETITION and tell President Obama:
“Sign an executive order NOW to provide workplace protections for LGBT federal employees.”
