SIGN THE PETITION: Help prevent gun violence in CA

California has a chance to save lives and lead the nation toward smarter gun safety by implementing the most advanced laws in the nation. It's a package of bills supported by CA Senate President pro Tem Kevin de León! They are:

    • SB 1235 (de León) and AB 156 (McCarty) require background checks for ammunition purchasers, licenses to sell ammunition, and collection of sale information.
    • SB 880 (Hall, Glazer) and AB 1135 (Levine, Ting) redefine assault weapons to encompass specified guns capable of accepting any type of detachable magazine.
    • SB 1446 (Hancock) prohibits the possession of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
    • SB 1407 (de León) and AB 857 (Cooper) require a person to get a serial number from DOJ before making or assembling a gun.
    • SB 894 (Jackson) requires the reporting of a lost or stolen gun within 5 days of when a person knows or reasonably should have known of the theft or loss.
    • AB 1511 (Santiago) limits infrequent lending of guns to specified family members.
    • SB 1006 (Wolk) establishes a Firearm Violence Research Center at the University of California, filling the gap left by Congressional restrictions on firearms research.
California's gun laws are better than federal laws, but gun manufacturers and the NRA still continue to exploit loopholes. These bills are common sense steps to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals, empower law enforcement to better protect our communities, and protect innocent lives from being harmed.

SIGN THE PETITION and tell the CA State Legislature:

"I support CA Senate pro Tem Kevin de León's package of gun safety bills and will fight to make them law."
