Lead a Courage Score In-district Meeting

We’re teaming up with our partners at Indivisible CA: State Strong and ACCE Action to host events at your legislators’ offices all across California throughout the week (March 11-15). Meeting with your legislator simply consists of you telling them how you feel about their Courage Score and the votes they took to create that score. From there, to let them know what your priorities are in the coming year (which we will provide a guide for).

We need as many people as possible to lead and attend in-district meetings with legislators in order to hold them accountable.
By leading a meeting with your legislator, you'll bring together like-minded progressives and work toward making sure legislators are voting to represent us and not corporate lobbyists. To lead a meeting, all you need is availability and willingness to follow the sample script we will provide.

When creating your event, please include the name of the legislator you're meeting with in the event name. Once you create your event, you'll be provided with all the tools you need to run a successful meeting and we'll be here to support you every step of the way.

    Event rules

Here are the basic requirements for event hosts:

Whether you host a small gathering of friends and family or a larger rally, you will contribute to keeping your legislator accountable to serve the public interest.

The proposed location for these events are at the district offices of your state legislators. The address of their district offices can found on the Assembly Directory and Senate Directory.

It is important that you scout the district office at least three days in advance of the meeting to figure out the best location for parking, meeting attendees, and the exact location of the meeting. Please update this information on your event page. If you feel that the district office is not the best location for a rally and would like to propose an alternate location, reach out to us at mary@couragecampaign.org.

Whatever option you choose, we will support you with:

    • A guide to help you plan and run your event
    • Sample invite emails and social media messages to use when inviting your friends and neighbors
    • Support from Courage Score organizers

Please email mary@couragecampaign.org with any questions.

Next, we'll e-mail you a link to confirm your event.
