Tell Sen. Vargas to represent us not Big Banks!

Sen. Juan Vargas (D-San Diego) is chairman of the Senate banking committee in Sacramento. He's running for Congress and has to make it through a tough Democratic primary, so he can't look like he's working for Big Banks. But he's taken almost $100,000 from mortgage interests, despite 360,598 foreclosures in the counties he is supposed to represent.

Call this number and you'll be connected to his office (888) 459-7593(888) 459-7593. Here's a short script, although you should feel free to customize it as you like:

"I am calling to urge Senator Vargas to support a strong Homeowner Bill of Rights. The bill must include enforcement mechanisms, so homeowners can have their day in court if banks break the law. I know that Sen. Vargas has taken nearly $100,000 in campaign contributions from the mortgage industry, and this is a chance for him to show he represents me, not the Big Banks."

If you're asked, the Homeowner Bill of Rights is Senate Bills 1470 and 1471

Let us know how it went over on the left side of the page. This helps as we figure out the next steps in our campaigns against the Big Banks. And thanks for making the call!
