Tell Sen. Mikulski: Support DOMA repeal!

Last month, the Senate Judiciary Committee held the first-ever Congressional hearing on whether to repeal DOMA. The day before, President Obama, in a rare move, formally endorsed Sen. Feinstein's bill -- the Respect for Marriage Act -- to repeal DOMA. That, combined with the 29 Senators who have publicly committed to repealing DOMA, means we have a lot of momentum.

But Sen. Mikulski is not one of those 29 Senators, even after last month's hearing. Meanwhile, constituents like Kay and Lane, married veterans who've been together for 35 years, are treated by the federal government as if they're strangers -- and face significant tax disadvantages because of it. This affects thousands of similar couples in Maryland. It's time for Sen. Mikulski to support full federal equality for constituents like Kay and Lane.

Please join Kay, Lane, Courage Campaign, Equality Maryland, and Freedom to Marry in asking Sen. Mikulski to co-sponsor Sen. Feinstein's bill to repeal DOMA. We'll hand-deliver your signatures along with our letter to her.

And if you've voted or volunteered for Sen. Mikulski in the past, or contributed to support her election, please leave a comment below on how important you feel this issue is. We'll make sure she sees how much support there is for repealing DOMA.
