Tell Target and Costco to drop abusive trucking companies
Trucking is one of the most important yet deadly occupations in the U.S. That’s why federal law prohibits truckers from driving more than 11 hours at a time -- as the chances of an accident increase every hour afterward.
Unfortunately, Los Angeles port truckers don’t have a choice.
Forced into indentured servitude with threats to sign lease-to-own contracts or be fired, truckers spend over 100 hours a week trying to pay off their trucks. Sometimes at the end of a week they end up owing the company!
But major retailers -- like Target -- who employ these port truckers along their chain of production, can help stop the abuse. By dropping these trucking companies, they set an example for other corporations and let them know that we're watching.
Sign the petition to tell Target:
"I demand that Target drop abusive trucking companies and only hire ethical trucking companies that are up to standard with current labor codes along their chain of production."
