Stand with striking workers, tell fast-food giants not to fire them

As fast-food workers across the country strike for a living wage, tell America's leading fast-food chains not to retaliate against them. If McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, Wendy's, Burger King, Domino’s, and Dunkin’ Donuts think they can get away with it, they'll fire those workers.

And these aren't high school kids. They're adults like Bartolome Perez, a 42 year old married father from Los Angeles. He's worked at McDonalds for more than two decades, serving as a janitor and a cook. His last raise -- a 50-cent bump to $10.75 an hour -- came five years ago. It's a story that's familiar in the fast-food industry, which employs about 3.7 million workers at a median age of 28.

The case for a living wage is indisputable. If the minimum wage had kept pace with inflation, it would be $16 today, but instead 89% of today's fast-food workers make a median hourly wage of $8.94. Meanwhile, McDonalds just gave its CEO $13.8 million per year, while the company made $5.5 billion in profit.

Tell fast-food giants: I support the striking fast food workers across the country and call on fast-food chains to allow your employees to strike for better pay and better treatment without retaliation.
