University of California: Don't support anti-LGBT hate

Next year the University of California football team is slated to play in North Carolina, which recently passed “the most extreme anti-LGBT [law] in the country.” The law, called HB2, mandates discrimination against transgender people and even stops North Carolina cities from banning employment or housing discrimination against LGBT folks.

There’s now a national movement to boycott North Carolina until it repeals HB2. Musicians have canceled concerts, the NBA and NCAA have moved important games, and film studios have stopped shooting there. It’s cost North Carolina’s residents and businesses nearly $400 million -- creating real pressure for state leaders to repeal HB2.

The University of California should neither legitimize nor support North Carolina’s bigotry by bringing its money, its fans, or its football team to the state.

Sign the UC President Janet Napolitano, Chancellor Dirks, and Cal Athletic Director Mike Williams not to let UC Berkeley play football in North Carolina:

"I demand that you do everything in your power to prevent the University of California-Berkeley football team to play in North Carolina until they repeal HB2, which mandates discrimination against transgender people and eliminates municipal legal protections for all LGBT people."
