Tell Gov. Brown: Make the CA meat industry do their part to protect California’s dwindling water supply

The newest campaign by the provocative activists The Yes Men -- notorious for their elaborate hoaxes to expose abuses of corporate power -- with FunnyOrDie brings up a very real concern for the CA drought -- the meat industry.

It is estimated that the meat and dairy industry uses 47% of Californias annual water supply. It is time for the meat industry to do its part to save the little water California has left and immediately cut its water usage.(1)

In the midst of California’s historic drought, we must all do our part to conserve the state’s most precious resource – water. Residents have already been placed under mandatory water restrictions and some smaller farms are doing their part by voluntarily cutting their water usage by 25%. Now it's time for the meat industry to follow suit.

SIGN THE PETITION and tell Governor Jerry Brown:

“At a time when all Californians are being asked to conserve water, it is critical that the meat industry, which uses 47% of the state’s water through meat and dairy production, do its part and immediately reduce its water usage. With just one year of water remaining, we must all chip-in to conserve our remaining water and reform the state’s water system. Please implement serious restrictions on water use by factory farms in order to protect our water.
