SIGN THE PLEDGE: Don’t buy produce grown with oil contaminated water

According to Mother Jones magazine, popular California produce companies, Sunview, Halos Mandarins, Trinchero, and Bee Sweet Citrus may be using toxic, oil-contaminated wastewater to grow fruits WE eat, despite the alarming health risks.

A recent scientific study by Water Defense showed that treated oil wastewater being sold to California farmers contained acetone, oil, and methylene chloride -- a known carcinogen -- as high as 56 parts per billion. That's nearly FOUR TIMES the amount of methylene chloride found in a contaminated river after the 2013 ExxonMobil tar sands pipeline spill in Mayflower, Arkansas – a spill which was declared a federal disaster.

As consumers, we must protect our wellbeing and hit these companies where it counts, their financial bottom line. If we don’t show them this is unacceptable, the use of toxic wastewater to grow produce will only expand.

SIGN THE PLEDGE telling Bee Sweet Citrus, Sunview, Halos Mandarins, and Trinchero:

"I pledge not to purchase any products grown by your companies until you prove your produce is NOT grown with oil industry wastewater."
