Tell CA Legislature: Improve police transparency and accountability!

When it comes to policing, California is one of the most secretive states in the country.

In fact, current CA law bars our access to information related to serious use of force, like officer-involved shootings, or police misconduct, including instances of racial profiling, sexual misconduct, and planting evidence. In other words, officers who have unjustly killed, harassed, or incriminated Californians may still be policing our neighborhoods, and we are none the wiser.

Senate Bill 1286 would change that by cracking open police misconduct and use of force records to the public. Enhancing police transparency and accountability will help restore trust between local law enforcement and the community -- which will greatly improve public safety and help police officers do their jobs more effectively!

RIGHT NOW, powerful law enforcement lobbyists are trying to tear this bill down, so it's up to us to make sure our state representatives do the right thing.

SIGN THE PETITION to send an immediate message to the California Legislature saying:

"Please vote yes on SB 1286 to improve transparency, accountability and public trust in law enforcement. The public has a right to know when an officer violates the law or abuses their immense power."
