Speaker Boehner: Don’t stand in the way of equal employment opportunities for LGBT Americans. Allow a vote on ENDA.
Did you know you can still be fired for being gay in 29 states and for being transgender in 33 states?
That didn’t stop Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner from declaring strong opposition to the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) that would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace.
The historic ENDA just passed the Senate with a bipartisan majority. The Speaker at least needs to allow an up-or-down vote in the House of Representatives, even if he doesn't support the bill himself. If Speaker Boehner continues to cater to Tea Party extremists -- instead of listening to the overwhelming majority of Americans, including 66% of Republicans, who support this critical legislation -- ENDA will be blocked despite broad support.
SIGN THE PETITION: "Speaker Boehner stand with the majority of Americans, as well as REPUBLICAN VOTERS, and allow a vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA)."
