Tell Asm. Bill Dodd: Stand up for the will of your constituents, not corporate interests

The growing influence of corporate money in Sacramento -- from wealthy donors to corporate backed independent expenditures and political action committees (PACs) --  is making it harder and harder for California to lead as a model for the nation.

Assemblymember Bill Dodd is part of the problem. While accepting corporate contributions, he has a record of voting against the desires and best interests of his constituents.

In fact, Asm. Dodd’s voting record ranks him as one of the LEAST progressive Democrats in the Assembly, despite his district’s clear support for more progressive policies.

While his constituents showed strong support for fighting climate change, Dodd did not support SB 32, a critical bill that would help curb carbon pollution -- the same bill opposed by some of his donors in the agriculture and oil industries.

Asm. Dodd also voted against a bill that would have curbed an unjust, racist policy called Civil Asset Forfeiture (SB 443) -- despite his constituents’ support for reforming flaws in our criminal justice system -- and opposed other legislation that would have upheld the values of his constituents and the Democratic Party.

We must join together to hold him accountable.

SIGN THE PETITION TO TELL ASSEMBLYMEMBER BILL DODD:

“I am appalled at the excessive influence corporations and the wealthy have in the halls of our state Capitol. Their priorities and profits are consistently placed over the well-being of everyday Californians. Based on what I’ve seen on The People’s Report Card of California, I believe that you are part of the problem. I respectfully ask you to stand up to these moneyed interests and demonstrate courage by representing your constituents, as well as the values of the Democratic Party.”
