Call NOW to pass the California Money Bail Reform Act

On June 1st, fourteen Assembly Democrats joined Republicans to help defeat the California Money Bail Reform Act on a 36-37 vote. This vote gives credence to fundamentally unjust law enforcement practices that systemically prey on the poor. It goes against everything Democrats are supposed to stand for.

But the bill isn't dead yet -- thanks to the hard work of Courage Campaign members and our allies, the California Money Bail Reform Act passed in the Senate earlier this week. That means the Assembly will consider the bill again after they reconvene in August.

Your legislator needs to know -- right now -- that their vote was unacceptable, and that you expect them to vote the right way on bail reform when it comes back up again. Will you call your assemblymember, , and tell them that you want to pass the California Money Bail Reform Act?

You have the power to make a real difference. Legislators listen when they receive phone calls from their constituents. Calls let them know real people, not special interest lobbyists, really care about the issue. One phone call can mean as much as 10 or even 20 emails! Call now -- you can use the sample script below to guide your call:
